In an unexpected move, presumptive Republican nominee John McCain selected Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate today. However, the Sarah Palin vice president move is expected to backfire on McCain. Democrats are outraged that McCain would employ such tactics in an effort to sway distraught Clinton voters to vote Republican in November. Women, especially are rather outraged by the move. They believe McCain has made his thoughts on voting women clear - that they are naive and willing to vote for any woman that has the potential to make it into office. The Sarah Palin vice president move is receiving criticism on numerous fronts. The possibility that McCain will make his way into the White House in November is slowly becoming less of a reality.
From a strategic standpoint, the choice to elect Sarah Palin as Vice president couldn’t be more poorly thought out. McCain was hoping to garner sympathy from Clinton voters by making Palin a part of his campaign. However, Clinton and Palin couldn’t be more different. They are complete opposites when it comes to the topics that concern voters the most and have extreme discrepancies in the amount of experience they have. It is very unclear how McCain actually say Palin as an adequate substitute for Clinton. It’s quite obvious that Palin comes nowhere near Clinton from numerous standpoints.
Sarah Palin vice president - Experience anyone?
John McCain’s vice presidential pick has very little experience. She has never held any sort of national office. Rather, Sarah Palin has been heading the state of Alaska for the last two years. For someone whose criticized Obama for begin inexperienced, McCain is sure the one to talk now by pairing with an absolutely incompetent vice president. Well, McCain’s selection is very bad news for the Republican party as they will now be unable to play the experience card, something which proved unsuccessful anyhow, considering Obama’s nomination.
Sarah Palin vice president - Conflicting Views
You’d think that McCain would choose someone who more or less agreed with him on subjects currently resonating with voters. However, Palin is anything but a carbon copy of McCain in regards to her stand on a particular subject - drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge. Sarah Palin, unlike McCain is for drilling in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge, and it really should come as no surprise to anyone. Palin’s husband currently works for BP, the worlds third largest energy company. This brings up another theory which absolutely makes sense, that Palin may have bought her way into the VP chair.
Desperation at its best
Most people have seen McCain’s latest move as an act of desperation, something which it is. McCain is obviously aware of the steam which the Obama campaign has been gaining and saw this as an opportunity to change the playing field. However, most consider this to be a failed attempt. McCain underestimated the effect his decision would have on female voters, and thus he has turned even more against him.
Sarah Palin as President?
Sarah Palin Vice President brings up a troubling thought that could dig our country further into turmoil. John McCain is on the higher end of the age spectrum and isn’t exactly in the best of health. If he were to clinch the presidential nomination and make his way into office in November, that could set the country up for trouble. Sarah Palin is literally a few heartbeats away from becoming president. If McCain were to somehow cease, Palin would be thrown the reins to the United States, a very scary thought indeed. With absolutely no experience, our country would quickly and easily fall into shambles.
The final say in the matter is up to voters, who will determine whether they want us to progress forward or fall back. With John McCain’s pick of an incompetent vice president, he really isn’t a viable candidate for the presidency. His age and health problems place him further away from the possibility of presidency.
