A hiker adventuring in the Mammoth Lakes area is believed to have found some of Steve Fossett’s personal belongings. Fossett, a millionaire hiker himself, recently went missing in the area.

According to Nancy Upham, a spokesperson for the forest area located in the region, a sweatshirt and ID card belonging to Fossett was found by the hiker. Fossett went missing early last month. He left Nevada in a plane borrowed from Barron Hilton. Searching for the plane and Fossett turned up nothing in the days following his disappearance.

Fossett has broken numerous records in his time. He was the first person to go around the world in a balloon, as well as a plane.

The specific area in which the hiker found the possessions is unclear, however, further details are expected to be reported as they become available.

The plane which Fossett was in when he went missing has yet to be found. However, it would make sense if what remains of the plane (had it crashed) would be within the vicinity of the new discovery.
